Jesus gave this authority to His disciples and we , as His followers,  are indwelt by the Holy Spirit who leads us in such weighty authority ~

19 Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy: and nothing shall by any means hurt you.
(Luke 10:19, KJV).
18 Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
(Matthew 18:18, KJV).
19 And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.
(Matthew 16:19, KJV).
12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
(John 14:12, KJV).

In James 1:25,  the word LIBERTY  is the same word used in  Galations 5:13. In the Greek it means freedom (legitimate, unrestrained, exempt)and it was drawn from the situation when a slave in Greece was bought (at a price) by a man and given to a god. This slave was then declared FREED MAN (on a document) and this meant no matter what the circumstances, he never could be enslaved again. Even, as believers, when we ignorantly or foolishly or intentionally let other people, doctrines, ideas, situations, sicknesses “enslave” us, it is illegal and not even based on reality! According to God we are FREED MEN. No one could enslave us again. It isn’t even possible. If we really believe it, all illness, all sin, all affliction (other than persecution which we are promised) can’t even touch us.

We were bought at a price by a Man the (Son of Man) and given to a god (the Heavenly Father) and can never be enslaved again!

Liberty what a liberating truth! Whom the Son has made free is free indeed! They shall know the truth and the truth shall set them free!
